Re: new 14 foot skiff owner

The mark on stbd would refer to the Abbotsford 12' Flying Squadron - a 12'er club in Sydney. Any of the Sydney skiffies are likely to know, or at least know of, Jam. As I recall, builds a lot of masts and located somewhere near Manly?

If there is anyone needs a crew for either this event or Garda then please get in touch.

Currently living in Holland so can comfortably get to both events.

Cheers, Tristan.

An idea is to find a local fishing rod manufacturer. get a surf rod blank for not much and you have a tapered graphite tiller extn.

Worlds Over

Congratulations to Hamlin & McNicol on the new title. By all reports you managed to sail a flawless lead-up and series.

Well done to all the other boats who competed as well. Thanks for all the reports, stories and pics over the last few weeks for those of us stuck back in winter.

Tristan.

I used to run a 1:2 in an older boat (not a 14) first for the faster sets, but also for less loose line laying around in the boat. Found a few problems, ultimately more than was worth the hassle. The halyard would run from the head of the kite, through the exit block on the mast, through a floating ...

Thanks for the responses boys but it was all for nawght. I just found out that after about 4hrs of interviews with pretty much farkin everyone, they will not be proceeding with my application as they feel I would be bored in the position being offered. Never mind though, it just means I'll possibly ...

Yeah Helmy, sometimes theres no wind at all. I had a video interview last night which, I think, went ok. Now I'm waiting for the offer and then the real fun begins. So probably a few weeks yet until I even know if I'll be over that direction. With regards to a worlds in Perth, I would imagine that a...

Cheers for that mate. I'm having another interview monday so I should hopefully know a little more after that.

Where do the 14's sail? all at the one club, or spread out over Perth and Freo?

So, Perth eh? Any good over there?

Ok, I may be getting one of those job thing-o's over in the wild, wild west. I'm going through the whole interview process at the moment. I've only ever been over there once, and that was for a nationals out of East Fremantle about 10 years ago. I really liked what I saw of the place then, but I was...

I agree with Simon, everything he has said follows along most of what I've heard. As to manufacturers, CST have a very high representation in a lot of classes and they make a very high quality product. Also, C-Tech in NZ have a quality product, as does RV (Carbon Concepts) from Victoria. These are t...

Sounds like a pretty good deal Olli, nice one!

ummm, does the proud new owner appreciate all the other costs involved in boat ownership that she will now be obliged to pay? You know, maintenance, upgrades, insurance, registration, beer for the crew - all the important stuff.

I'm just wondering if a sock over the outlet would work. On the transom exhausts of some power boats, I've seen a sock of something similar to canvas which lays flat behind the boat at speed so that water (or exhaust gas in this case) can flow. Then when the boat slows down and the stern-wave catche...
