What kind of i14 is this?

Post by koenraadvds » Fri Nov 17, 2017 10:42 am

Hello good people!

Let me introduce myself before I go rambling on about my new boat.
I'm Koenraad (28), I live in Belgium. I've been sailing dinghies since I was 12 years old. Started with optimist, equipe, 420 & later on 470, Buzz.
I also have a Jeanneau fantasia 28 for when there is no wind or I want to have dinner at sea.
I've been in love with the i14 since viewing the movie 'Wind' where there is that awesome i14 race..

So I recently took the plunge and purchased a i14 from a local guy who repainted it but never really sailed it (I think).
He says it's from 2001. Sailnumber GBR 1430.
It appears as if I'm the only owner in Belgium who owns an international. Sad story.
Can the experts tell me what model this is? What mast type and how to properly setup the mast and tension the shrouds?
Where do I find a possible hullnumber? Can't find it anywhere. There is no lettering on the mast whatsoever. The guy I bought it from says it's a CST 14 Carbon mast.

Looks like a Bieker 2 or 3. If it was built in 2001 then probably a Bieker 3.

Hull number may be engraved on the transom or near the daggerboard slot.

As for the mast being a CST 14, he's probably correct.

Somebody from England should have more info for you.

Thank you for your reply
I've been tracking the history of the boat and it's skippers.
So far 1 person replied back to me about the boat so it's a start!
