Classic 14's at Upper Thames

Good afternoon,

Please find below the NoR for the Upper Thames Sailing Club open meeting. Although this is a river club, all 14 sailors are welcome and we would be happy to tell you where the shallows are. Contact details for the Class Captain are at the end of this message.

Organizing Authority The organizing authority is The Upper Thames Sailing Club

Rules: The racing will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2009-2012, the prescriptions of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), and the rules of the International 14 Class Association, except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions (SI's) or this Notice of Race (NoR).

Rule Amendment: The definition of the zone referred to in (RRS) 2009-2012 Rule 18 (Mark Room) is amended to ‘two’ hull lengths.

RYA Racing Charter Competitors should note that UTSC implement the RYA Racing Charter and that they will be required to undertake to sail in compliance with the Charter, which can be found at the front of the RYA rule book (Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012) or at

Condition of Entry: All boats must have a valid certificate of measurement. Approval of the Race Committee is required in order to use a sail number other than that which is recorded on the measurement certificate.

Entry Fee: £20.00 for both days or £15.00 for single day only.

Programme: Saturday 9th July 2011 :- Scott Freeman Challenge Cup (including)
:- Race 1 for The Upper Thames Trophy.
Race start – not before 13.00.

Sunday 10th July 2011 :- Final two races for the Upper Thames Trophy
First race – not before 11.30.

Scoring: The Low Point System, RRS Appendix A will apply.

Races to count: Upper Thames Trophy – two races out of three to count
Scott Freeman Challenge Cup – one long race to count

Sailing Instructions: Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

Liability: Competitors take part at their own account and risk. Upper Thames Sailing Club will not accept any responsibility for damage or loss to persons or property afloat or ashore. Each boat must have third party liability insurance cover to a minimum of £2,000,000 (two Million Pounds Sterling) to be eligible to race.
