Questions on buying a Morrison 10

Hi all,
I'm considering buying a Morrison 10 from 2001. Since it would be my first i14 I'm looking for some advise on how to judge its conditions

The hull seems to be in good shape. It has been repainted, all fittings are sealed and it is supposed to be 100% watertight.

What me concerns more is the mast. It looks like the spreaders have been repaired and/or reinforced multiple times and one ist sticking out in an slightly upward angle. Is this a problem? How easily do mast and spreaders break? Is it possible to fit a newer rig on a i14 of this age?
Also the boom has been repaired and reinforced.

I'm trying to judge what additional cost I should calculate with to have fun for the next 2-3 years. It would ok for me to do some repair work, but I also want to spent more time on the water than doing carbon work in the workshop.

Thanks for your help.

DCH

Hi DCH,

Thanks for your message.

Where are you based and what boat are you considering?

Do you have pictures of the mast and breakages.

m10s whilst a bit older are great learning platforms and still pretty nifty.

Any queries, let me know.

Alex

Also i think spreaders are supposed to angle up abit. they will pull straight when the rig tension is on. If they go below horizontal they will break under compression
