That's not exactly what it says. Henderson built many Object 2 B5's for way less than that as did others. Tuttle and Bayliss boats were quite a bit more. How much they really costs is a mystery. I once tried to buy a used one for over $52,000. Fortunately, I came to my senses or at least that's what I tell myself.

Wow. I had heard those three boats were very pricey, and people outside of the class like to regularly throw around the $50k number, along with some disparaging statement about obsolescence. This is the first time I've seen it confirmed (the price, not the obsolescence). I wonder though, if the owners were trying to cash in on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd results at the 2006 worlds, and make a little profit.

Obviously I have no idea how much Howie/Ewan, Shark/Paul and Tina/Trevor put into their boats. I have a feeling that there wasn't a lot of profit-taking at sales time.
I do know that others were going in for well over $50,000 for a B5 back then.
So I'd say the B6 project is quite remarkable. A fantastic boat at a fraction of the price!
