Boat in a box - the Shu3

I've been getting ready to seal the hull with epoxy, so first I'm filling all the nail, screw, and staple holes with thickened epoxy. Fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand. I just can't get away from three applications of filler to get it done. I tried leaving a thick amount on the second application, but that resulted in a huge sanding effort, and I still have some holes that need to be re-filled.

My Dad passed away a couple of weeks ago. He's the one responsible for getting me into sailing as a little kid and boatbuilding later on. I have a thread on the Sailing Anarchy forums about him and his company, Yankee Yachts. Here's the link:

Very sorry for your loss. Great toot see the Shu 3 moving forward and I'm sure Dad is looking down ensuring you're doing it right. As you mentioned about the SA link, great history of your father and Yankee Yachts, very enjoyable read. Look forward to the new boat, and seeing you back out on the Shu 2 which is still going strong.

I'm not available next weekend, and the following is ODW. How about the weekend before thanksgiving? No, that's the ABYC Turkey Day regatta, unless no-one is planning to attend.

I unfastened all of the supports except at the stem, midship, and transom. I need to modify the cradle from the Shu2 shape to the Shu3 shape, which should be easy and quick. I'll have to think of other projects to do until the party.

Must check with Kim about a turning party date. Depending on weather we can do the official turning in the arena. All 14'ers and their mini-horse loving spouses will be welcome. Please leave the fratboy, druggie, or biker gang party-crasher types at home.

wait a minute... I thought you said all 14'ers are welcome, I don't understand...?

Boat is looking good Steve! ...and get yourself and the Shu2 up to ABYC for TurkeyDay its going to be a solid turnout and our last big regatta of the year. No excuses!
