AJ:
Nice post. Sorry for the absence of a complete report. Too busy trying to acclimate to the work site again after a fantastic week of sailing in Kaneohe Bay. Report underway. Stand By.

Re: Twist Grip Mechanism
Dave: I am an avid fly fisherman with many reels- both click and pawl and various disc drag systems. Based on these ideas I experimented with various discs to create a smooth even drag on the system. Of course the problem is, unlike a proper reel, the drag is in both directions. Nonetheless, surpris...

Re: Twist Grip Mechanism
Kris Henderson also makes a twist grip assembly, but without the Ovington clicker. It is simpler and smaller. Just a delrin cylinder machined to take a 3/8" shaft and bored out on the ends to take your choice of flexible universal material hydraulic hose, torque rope, etc. Mounted on top of your til...

Re: Boat in a box - the Shu3
Steve: I love to watch your progress. Keep on posting. Regarding rocker, it has been a while since I sailed a B5, but the B6 doesn't really sail like a boat with less rocker than the B5. The biggest difference between the 5/6 is the fullness in the bow. You can really press the bow down with the foi...

Re: The new B6
No, Dan I did not do such a study, although you are welcome to come over and do it if you want! That was a purely subjective statement based on my experience sailing both boats in a variety of windy conditions most notably San Francisco Bay (B5 only) the Columbia River Gorge (B5 and B6 extensively),...

I always like your compliments and observations. Simple, light and stiffer than my pre-preg B5 (USA1162). Oh yeah, fast(er) and way cheaper too!

Re: The new B6
Things continue to progress nicely on Hull 8- soon to be USA 1191. Yesterday Kris tested a new technique using divining rods to find the centerline before installing the rudder gantry cassette. Very interesting to watch. The boat should be ready for post curing tomorrow and painted by week's end wit...

Spare no posts! Love watching your build and explanation, Steve. Give Hendo a run for his money on posts. Look forward to seeing more.

You and Kim look like you have been busier than Santa's Elves! I love watching the boat coming together. So simple- at least from my perspective. Keep up the good work. Will my sleigh be ready for Christmas?

Re: The new B6
Henderson Boat Company is back in the shop and building again! My ew centerboard looks great. All i need is a boat to put it in. Great job getting the shop built. Hull eight is on target to be ready for the Midwinters, NOOD and then Hawaii!

Re: Jib Clews - how to measure them consistently
Steve: Your solution as it relates to the head sounds simple and consistent with how we treat the main- at least as i understand it. But since the jib clew can also be tortured similar to the head, it is a bit more complex than the main alone. Would you propose similar treatment? I appreciate Haywir...

Re: The new B6
Steve: I think you are without question right about weight, complexity, and cost. Rigging and more importantly rerigging on the water without the deck is perhaps most important, however. I am not so sure about the trough catching water in a capsize and do not believe that is an important factor. In ...

Re: The new B6
Dan: I generally agree with most of your points and especially agree with the last one. It is a tenuous link at best. It is clear to me that Kris' well aged and time wisened (and skilled) crew had more to do with hime being on the line. Perhaps your crew is similarly situated? Perhaps Andrew would a...
