Transom Flaps (Penny Cross III)

Anyone got some good pictures/ideas/designs for transom flaps on a circa 1986 Cross III ?
It has 2 wide (~ 6") skinny (~3.5") openings on each side of the rudder, flush with the deck.

I keep sinking in the stern more often then I'd like too :?

Here's a shot of the deck layout with the wooden traveller and support piece at the front. As you can see, she's in pretty good condition for a ~1971 as she was stored inside for many years.

Is that boat wood? If so, more pictures please (no, I will not buy it, I just want to oggle). Mainly fiberglass construction I think, with a few wood bits (main sheet traveller and a bit near the bow). I have some more pictures I'll upload in few days for you (enjoyed oggling your new build in the ...

Looks just like my 'new' 1986 I14 Penultimate I picked up last week from Ottawa :D

I might be asking some questions in the coming months as I start to get used to her.
I had a sailed a Laser 4000 before, but this is a quite a different animal (in a good way :))

SOLD: CAN324

SOLD to a loving home in Ottawa :) I have a ready to sail CAN324 for sale from around 1970. ~ $850 for the boat and two sets of sails (2 mains, jibs, spinnakers). I've done some work on her over the last two springs and she's ready to rig and go sailing. A nice sturdy starter boat :) I have pictures...

Took it out sailing yesterday in light airs to discover fairly intensive water leakage through the Elvstrom bailers. I took the bailers out and found the external gaskets totally rotted out - anyone got a spare Evlstrom size New Large bailer gasket kicking around? Or know where I can get one in Cana...

Surely you'd want your boat's mass perfectly balanced over the centreline? If you have a trough on one side and a stash of heavy floatation on the other, wouldn't you end up with a boat with a list to one side?

Well, as far as I can see, the old scupper system is still in place (pic 7). Only the bungees are missing. It's there, but doesn't seal at all with the transom - but tennis balls do fit perfectly and I'm going to rig it up with one of those. I got some fibreglass and paint (InterDeck paint) and wil...

Out of storage

All right, the boat is now out of storage and in my garage. After a better look it doesn't appear she needs that much work. I see three major things (any tips/suggestions, see picture captions here for details http://picasaweb.google.com/steve.livingstone/International14) 1) The through hull cracks ...

Help fixing up circa 1970's I-14

At the end of last autumn, I picked up a lovely circa 1970s I-14 (at least that's how old I think she is - can anyone tell from the pictures?) http://picasaweb.google.ca/steve.livingstone/International14 Anyway, one thing I'm missing is a spinnaker pole (I have the symmetrical spinnaker, but the pol...
