Re: CAN 610 Blue-Footed Booby for sale

Yes. I still have the old Quantum sails. Not sure of the condition of them. The boat is still competitive, coming 4th at the I14 Canadians just this last weekend. Would like to see it continue to race if possible. PM me for more info.

Re: Mast Track

Forte... at least that's where I got it a few years ago. Great improvement over the bits of 29er track I had previously purchased. It's very nice to have one continuous piece and this stuff holds the boltrope very well.

Re: CAN 610 Blue-Footed Booby for sale

Yes, this boat was once USA 1148. Built in 2001. It came to Canada in 2008 and became "The Booby" in 2009. Notable upgrades include: - bigger foredeck opening for faster kite launch/douse - improved universals for tiller twist controlled foil - reinforced racks (stiffer) - improved running rigging f...

Re: Moving the Jib Stay out 300mm from the stem

I moved the jib stay forward about 10 cm on my B3. Had to do it to prevent the larger jib from getting stuck on the mast in tacks in light air and that's as far as I could go without changing the way the tack attached (simple loop around tube). There was no notable change in boat balance; still no h...

Re: B3 How competitive

It's hard to quantify, but I would say that the condition we struggle most to keep pace in our B3 is upwind in larger waves/chop. That's likely a combination of our experience in those conditions and the difference in the way the boats cut through the waves. We are usually on pace downwind if we are...

Re: B3 How competitive

B3s can still be plenty competitive if well maintained and well sailed. I'd love to have a brand new boat but don't have the cash now and I don't think it would change our world's ranking from "mid-fleet". Within the region, we consistently compete near the top of the fleet. The Blue Footed Booby wi...

If you haven't already fashioned your own, take a look at Blue-Footed Booby this weekend. Pretty much exactly the same setup... "and we like it too"

Re: The new B6

Haywire is so damn consistent and really tough to beat in a good breeze. The view from behind was interesting. Both the K3s and the B6 at CORK had moments of brilliant boat speed with perhaps an extra gear over Haywire in the B5. They definitely had an extra gear or two over us in our B3 but when th...

That looks gorgeous CS! How many K3s are we going to be able to drool on at the Skiff Grand Prix in Ottawa?

Re: Foot holder options ?

I recently made some footstraps that might release in a bad wipeout. That wasn't my goal however. I have a top cover that goes over the racks and flattens normal foot straps making it hard to get in. These are made by sewing together two layers of webbing and putting some flexible plastic between th...

Re: 25kts

Will you have to make the top of the mast any stronger/heavier to handle the kite loads in breeze? I was under the impression that it was supported by the mainsail.
