Re: San Diego Skiff Super Cup

Brad,
Just for clarification, are the juniors excluded from the event, or just the 2 six-pack requirement?

Re: The new B6

Talk about space-age technology. Now Hendo is using alien fibers.

Nice work. Getting the uni fibers straight is both very important and (at least for me) difficult.

I can't find anything that would prohibit such an automatic system.

Re: Boat in a box - the Shu3

Finally some new photos. The bottom is done. The epoxy stripes give a good approximation of a lines drawing. The starboard side is ready for the topside panels, which I started cutting out this morning.

Re: Rig Measurement

Be careful about moving the mast position. The structure of your boat is likely designed to support the mast compression and shroud tension loads for the current position of the mast step. Things might get pretty flexy if you move the mast and shrouds without addressing the structure.

Re: Boat in a box - the Shu3

Hi Ed.
I finished skinning the bottom this past weekend. I should take and post a few photos. Next will be cleaning up the chine joint for the topsides and scarfing the 4mm topside sheets together. I should take and post a few photos.

Re: Rig Measurement

Sorry Trev, I misread your question. As for the base of the mast to the leading edge of the centerboard, newer boats have about 8 to 9 inches. As for the bow to the base of the mast see my previous post. B2's have about 70 to 72 inches, B-3's somewhere between that and B5's. all of these are "new ri...

Re: Rig Measurement

Trev, Like almost everything on these boats the answer is, it varies. It is highly dependent on how far aft the mast base is from the bow. A lot of the latest boats, B5, B6, K3, etc. have the mast base exactly half way aft, or 7 feet from the stem. In these boats, the more or less standard rake, as ...

Re: Poll: StFYC Fall Dinghy Regatta in 2015?

Brad brings up a good point. I think it is important for the race committee in a big conditions venue to "get" 14s. We don't want to be hanging around the starting line in 20 kts while they reset the weather mark for a 10 degree shift. Or to wait for our "correct" position in the start order once th...

Re: San Diego Intro to skiff sailing Jan 24-25

If at all possible, do not miss this event. We will have several experienced 14ers, including national champions focused on helping you with boat set up, dry-land training, and lots of on-the-water, and in-the-boat coaching. Many people who are now active and successful in the 14 fleet got there sta...

Re: Some new Hendo love from Pressure Drop

Joe, Wow. I had heard those three boats were very pricey, and people outside of the class like to regularly throw around the $50k number, along with some disparaging statement about obsolescence. This is the first time I've seen it confirmed (the price, not the obsolescence). I wonder though, if the...
