Re: T Foil Control

Hendo: The general concept would be for: • some non-electronic non-manual control using a device that senses the bow being depressed, and transmits a control to increase or decrease the angle of attack of the foil on the rudder. • Control device that would sense if the stern wave was attached to the...

T Foil Control

Do the rules prohibit automatic control of the 'T' foil with a mechanism such as what is used on the Moth?

Re: Rigging from Scratch

Hi Check out Rebuilding of US1112. The hulls look similar. The important thing is to be sure the controls work fluidly and are easy to use. I think you should bring the control systems up to date rather than rebuild a design that has been out dated. We found that a Dremal saw used for trimming the m...

Re: East Coast Racing

BWR Yes, US 1112 is still around. We are taking good care of her. Looks a little different than when you sailed her. We added the 'T' foil and brought the control lines up to date. Added a new Glaser main and Spinnaker and a new jib built by me. Painted the rig The Oakcliff Clinic was a real learnin...

East Coast Racing

Any ideas how to get some racing started on the East Coast? Is there any way to tell where the boats are? Used to be a fleet in Newport, Annapolis I live in Greenport, NY (end of Long Island) we have wind in the summer and there is a great bay here with deep water that would be a great venue. Also, ...

Re: The new B6

Hi:

In October there was a reference to a CB up/Down control. Since US1112 is in the shop for upgrades, I was wondering how this is rigged?

Hi:

Do you have an idea of how much carbon/weights would be needed to build the casset?

Rudder Gantry

Shu:

We are adding a 'T' foil to US1112. Do you have any PICs of your gantry? We have pretty much decided to tilt the whole rudder as a more roboust simplier solution rather than the more sexy appraoch of a articulated foil.

Re: History of I14 US 112

My father worked for Sandy Douglass and built the first Thistle prototype (Planked) which after sailing trials was burned. Thistle #1 was then built cold molded. Douglass & Mcleod is still in Grand River, Ohio and run by Ray Mcleod Jr. He might have some records. There is also a book "Sixty Years Be...
