Re: The new B6
We had an interesting failure on our Gnav gooseneck on the weekend. It was missing an important washer between the metal gooseneck and Hendo's beautiful carbon fitting. I managed to remove it from the mast, repair it and then re-mount it upside down. Also added a washer to prevent the gooseneck fitt...

Re: I14 North American Championship
Thanks Terry. I can't wait! Sounds like it might be a pretty good Canada/USA showdown with an even number of boats each. Of course Dave A and Dan may end up schooling all of us on how to sail in breeze.
See you all soon!

Can't wait to sail in the Gorge!
8 Canadians and 1 Australian but only 4 US boats pre-registered. Are any more coming?

Re: The new B6
Does anybody have the plans for a full length (2 patch kite) spinnaker sock for the B6? Also, any pictures showing placement of blocks at the back of the boat (around the rack struts)?
Thanks,
Doug
Thanks,
Doug

Re: Twist Grip Mechanism
The mechanism is working very well and 4:1 purchase is enough. I used stacked rubber washers under the ball bearing for the ratchet and that is giving a solid click now which is enough to keep the foil where I set it.

Re: Twist Grip Mechanism
Some hysteresis is inevitable but shouldn't be a real problem. In the end, I hope there will only be about 6 wraps on or off so there should only be one layer if I use a small diameter line. It may also be possible to keep the whole system under some tension and take up any slack with a bit of bunge...

Re: Twist Grip Mechanism
I've decided to move from the bungee + friction system originally on the red B6 from Henderson to a homemade clicker with wind on/off. The current system is 8:1 wrapping on a 3/8 inch shaft so requires a lot of winding (>10 full rotations) to go the full range. I made a pretty simple conversion to H...

Re: The new B6
Well, we may have a red B6 now but we will continue to be Team BOOBY Racing. Here's a short video based on the naming process. It's not official yet, but I think we have a winner!

Re: The new B6
I put the take-up for vang in one rack and the take-up for cunno in the other. Those are continuous and run rack to rack across the back. The gyber take-up is minimal so I left it on the starboard side along the inside of the cockpit but it is now much shorter and fully contained behind the mid-rack...

Re: The new B6
Looks like we are taking the middle road here. Our rig was pinned on the B3 and I didn't think it was a significant handicap so might go back to that eventually. For now, I'll be happy getting used to the boat and finding settings with a bit more flexibility. Cameron kept the boat in great shape, he...

Re: The new B6
Thanks Joe, that helped a lot. I moved vang and cunno take ups into the racks today. Those are running very smoothly now. My B3 had them in the racks too and that kept things nice and clean. Out of curiosity, on your boat, do you run the lines directly from the end of one rack to the other or do you...

Re: The new B6
I agree. I think it's just a matter of cleaning up the routing and possibly putting the take-ups in the racks. I'm curious about how others are routing the continuous lines through racks and around the back of the boat.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: The new B6
Hi Joe, Yes, sadly our harbor is closing soon so the boat is already in my garage for some rigging adjustments before putting her away for the winter. Thanks for the numbers. I think we were a little bit more upright than that (maybe 8150) but the boat felt very balanced. It's actually very well man...

Re: CAN 610 Blue-Footed Booby for sale
I can't take any credit for the design. It was made by the previous owner. He put a plastic (delrin?) mandrel inside a short 2" diameter carbon tube on the end of the tiller. The mandrel was machined to have optimum diameter so that the foil only needed 1 or 2 rotations of the tiller to go from full...
