Re: Boat handling. Advice needed
If you have a foil, then pulling a little on before a 2-sail gybe helps immensely. Leaving as it was for 2-on-the-wire, will slow the boat rapidly, whereas as pulling it on a touch makes the boat feel like it is on rails and loses no speed in the gybe. This is something we discovered in Germany. Arc...

And we, Australians, are also young at heart.
and are looking forward to some more pommie-bashing.

Re: 2011 Worlds NOR published
Hi Colin,
Thank you for publishing the NoR. The NoR indicates to pay on the 14Worlds website, but this site is curiously devoid of content.
When will we be able to pay? Hopefully before the 4th Aug, when the fees go up

Re: Rule vote: Mainsails and weight reduction delay
Thanks Colin. I was just checking that a 112 head on a bolt upright mast would be approved for Weymouth. It sounds like in all probability that it will be.
(FYI I'm using exactly the same mast).

Re: Rule vote: Mainsails and weight reduction delay
Can you clarify whether the "existing" mainsail rules is the rules from 2008 or do they include the UK proposal voted in at the last worlds?

Re: Rule vote: Mainsails and weight reduction delay
Hi Colin,
So from past experience, when would you expect ISAF to approve the mainsail rule change and therefore do you think that the new rule will apply for Weymouth?
thanks

Re: Mainsail measurement and voting
Plans are afoot to put to vote both the Aussie 112 degree rule vs the UK cleanup of their rule change, (which originally had two definitions for head!).
Perhaps we should in future put a deadline on Rules changes before a worlds. i.e. No new rules should apply within a year of the worlds.

Re: Mainsail measurement and voting
It strikes me that the UK proposal does change a fundamental rule of the class i.e. making the sail plan height unlimited. Please see photos of 18 foot skiff Panasonic to see what is possible above the mast tip, using a batten projecting along the luff. Dave is simply proposing a 112 degree head ang...

Not yet. It's with the Aussie's to propose a new rule. Otherwise the British proposal will become law.

Re: t-foil on a penny
Most foils these days are almost solid carbon and no more than 14mm thick. Unless you're very good at foil making, I would strongly advise to go with a pair of windsurf race fins. Anything else it likely to break.

Re: Mainsail measurement and voting
That would get my vote, as it wouldn't change the game too much.
I think we're just trying to get clarity here rather than proposing a new avenue for sail design.
