Re: East Coast Racing
Hi Ed, your best bet to race with other I14s in the East is to come to the Ottawa Skiff & Cat Grand Prix (June 6/7), CORK in Kingston (August 15, 16, 17; best breeze), or to one of the various events in Toronto.
We'd love to see you out!
Cheers

Re: My new boat
Shu, with this setup, how is the release of control lines. For example when your crew blows the vang, does it run freely, or does it automatically cleat itself, thus requiring the crew to feed some slack?
Thanks,
Matt

Re: The new B6
We have taken our new (to us, Cameron's old boat; B6 hull 2?) out for a couple of afternoons now. One session was in a drifter, the other in winds that varied from 12 to 20 knots, both in extremely flat water. The B6 is ridiculously fast! During the breezy session, upwind, with the vang maxed out be...

Re: 25kts
Interesting observations, thanks Shu.
I agree with you about the rule being antiquated. By the time the main has to get lowered on the water, the boat is on it's side anyway (or at least that has been my experience).

Has any more experimentation been done with reefing the main? Conclusions?

Re: The new B6
All speculative, but I reckon both mains are on the quarter or just outside. Jibs look similar - neither sheeted hard, poss a tad more twist on the black boat's jib. I've never known any sort of boat to go well with the main fully ragging. Draggy, and the jib starts dragging the bow off too. Conven...

Re: Spin halyard choice
I've heard of Tornados taking the core out of the retrieval part of their spin halyard to solve your problem. Obviously you would need to keep both the core and cover intact in the area that goes through your spin cleat.

Re: Upgrade of US1112
Nice work guys. Kingston is where you want to bring your boat for some epic sailing this August. I14s are having a start at CORK (site of the '72 Olympics) from August 20-22. We should be sharing a course with the 49ers and 29ers whom will be having their North Americans, so the skiffy vibe will be ...

trim tabs on foils
Has anyone been experimenting with putting trim tabs on their foils?
