Re: Bieker 4 rigging Schematic
You're probably not going to like this answer. There is no standard way to rig an I-14. Even sequential boats built by the same builder will be rigged differently, as every owner has their own preferences. There are two Henderson B-6's here in San Diego, and they are rigged about as differently as y...

Re: Boat in a box - the Shu3
While the starboard side cures, I cut off the excess with a Japanese saw. An electric saber saw would have been quicker, but I had much more control with the Japanese saw. Like a full-keeled boat the long-chord of the Japanese saw has much more directional stability. Next step is too add a little ex...

Re: Boat in a box - the Shu3
With the port side done, I did the same for the starboard side.

Re: Boat in a box - the Shu3
It has been awhile: I was correcting a problem with the dagger board case, and generally goofing off. I will post photos of the dagger board case in the future. Once I had the boat upright, the freeboard at the bow looked too high. I was expecting it to be higher, since I had the same freeboard from...

Re: Carbon Spreaders
I did the following when I shortened my spreaders, essentially copying the previous spreader ends as built by Kris Henderson (or perhaps Joe Bersch): 1. I bought a couple 0.25" thin-wall stainless steel bushings. 2. I drilled holes about 3/8" in from the spreader ends. The holes were just big enough...

Re: Future of the Forum
People can get notifications from this site without having their e-mail overwhelmed with notifications. Facebook notifications can be overwhelming. I like the way this site is structured and I agree with Rand on the ease of finding older posts here. But I'm a geezer in training; I'd like to hear fro...

Hendo was set up for a little fresh-water, short-course sailing on April 1, courtesy of a certain regatta host.

Re: GBR1524 TLC and control line changes
Good to see you working on the boat Ed. This is too late for you, but I laminated my kickbar in place in the boat with outward flanges (on plastic, so I could remove it, clean up the edges and then glue it down). Since you don't have flanges, your solution of fileting then laminating over the filet ...

Very beautiful work Kris.
Thanks for the bit about father to son. I didn't see it until today.

Re: Boat in a box - the Shu3
I'm not available next weekend, and the following is ODW. How about the weekend before thanksgiving? No, that's the ABYC Turkey Day regatta, unless no-one is planning to attend. I unfastened all of the supports except at the stem, midship, and transom. I need to modify the cradle from the Shu2 shape...

I coated the hull with two coats of epoxy. Time to turn her over!
