Re: Launching from the beach

Re: Beach launch - generally, you need to have the crew on the weather side holding the boat into the wind. Hold the rack, and just spin it to keep the boat unloaded. The skipper can install the rudder from inside the cockpit, or from behind. Obviously, a bit tough if the slope of the beach is steep...

Re: 2000-2001 Bieker3 i14 as a first boat. Is it worth it?

I will second the suggestion that a B3 is a great first boat. I joined the fleet in a B3 two years ago. Two years later once we could get around the course in breeze, it became apparent that it was most likely our older foil designs, and not the hull that was the most limiting factor speed wise. Com...

Re: Bieker 3 CAN610 'Metal on Metal' for sale

Tom is taking his time to decide that he needs to upgrade from his OD14, though we did have a good sail in a strong Toronto northerly a few weeks back. Price is very negotiable if you're going to race in the Canadian fleet. This is a good boat for high breeze at the 2018 worlds in San Fran! Make an ...

Bieker 3 CAN610 'Metal on Metal' for sale

It is with some regret that I must part with my faithful boat this season. My crew moved to France and I will be sailing on someone else's I14 for the foreseeable future. Metal on Metal (formerly the Blue Footed Booby, formerly USA 1148) is a solidly built 2001 American Built Bieker 3 hull with a mo...

Re: good non-foil Bieker rudder

I put it on our Trailer. I won't get it until the end of September, but should be able to bring it out in January.

Which boat do you have? Last I knew there were to ICs in Alberta (yellow modern, and Windbourne). I'm a friend of Mike L (and used to sail out of CYC).
