Updates to the worlds website

I've added a link to a VRSport promo video for the worlds (they are covering the event again!) on the website and updated the current headcount.

Foil adjustment

@koenraadvds asked about foil adjustment on his B3.

Here are images of the foil adjuster on my B3:

The purchase totals 10-1, which is mostly for fine tuning your adjustment rather than how much force you are trying to overcome.

Re: What kind of I 14 is this?

I believe that 1057 was built by Larry Tuttle in Santa Cruz for Zach Berkowitz for the 1989 i14 worlds at StFYC on San Francisco Bay. That boat was built of carbon composite and was the second boat built from the mold that Steve Toschi made of his Bruce Boatworks Cross III. Steve sailed the first on...

Re: Spinnaker and pole launching system for a B3

Here is a rough sketch Black for your extended pole, dark grey for your retracted pole. The green line is the tack line of your kite. It is attached to the deck behind the pole (when fully retracted) and passes through the pole to attach to the tack of the kite. The length of this line determines ho...

Re: What kind of i14 is this?

Looks like a Bieker 2 or 3. If it was built in 2001 then probably a Bieker 3.

Hull number may be engraved on the transom or near the daggerboard slot.

As for the mast being a CST 14, he's probably correct.

Somebody from England should have more info for you.

Tricky? Hmm, I don't know I've never sailed a boat with the trimming reversed

My boat was the last B3 built before Paul sent the molds to England (a bunch more were built there).

As a first boat? Yes, excellent choice. She'll be faster than you for a while, how long depends on how much time you put into learning the boat. I bought my B3 new in 1999, she's still faster than I am :( at times faster than the new boats (not as often anymore though). It all comes down to cost, ho...

Paul and Yvonne (Paul Galvez & YMGALVEZ) have two old 14s, a lapstrake and a hot molded one. They might have some info advise etc for you.

(I'll make sure they see your post).

Re: Rack Foam

There are lots of different materials on racks. Mostly rubber, I used to use a hard neoprene that was sold as a kit for some Hobie Cats, not sure what mine currently is, (came as about ½ meter square sheets), softer and grippier than the hard neoprene.

Maybe you are allergic to Latex?

Hmm, that's the way I write software and build small wood projects, hadn't thought of changing the design as you when building a boat! :D

Re: Future of the Forum

I think it would be great if we could link a lot of the other info out there (Facebook, website etc.) to the forum. Just how is out of my league :)

Maybe this isn't the best place to mention this, but we should work on getting i14.org back...
