The pink line is the cunningham for the jib. Or downhaul, or whatever you want to call it. I used it to but tension on the clew. There SHOULD be a jib halyard on the boat where the forestay attaches but I'm not 100% sure on my memory for that one. It's a zip on jib, I always put it on with the boat ...

There is already an option to 'submit' an article. Just let me know when you do so so I can approve it and put it in the right place.

Springer, I went through the same thing. New (to you) boat and you want to fix it up so it looks spiffy. Seriously sail it for a season and figure out what it needs before you go all crazy on it. If you insist on painting it, I'd paint it like it was painted for the movie. It's famous for that outsi...

Don't paint it black and tan, it'll get all warm in the sun and you'll get ripples. Look under the wings at the ripples.

As for tipping, you put it on with a roller and then lightly drag a clean brush over the top to get it to lay down nicely. There are better descriptions online, I'm sure.

You can strip it with stripper, then fix all the dings, and respray it. Good boat paint though is 2-part and very very very very very very dangerous to spray. I can't stress that enough. If you don't have the proper air equipment to keep yourself from inhaling overspray, you will die. Rolling it on ...

It's not gelcoat, it's paint.

He's got Divine Madness. Built by Brad Devine in AUS in 86, I believe.

I'd recommend a car with a trailer. It's not that far. A day of driving each way. It'll set on a flatbed trailer fine since it's got a cradle.

Free, I thought I indicated that, I guess I wasn't clear. The boat was given to me and I don't think it's fair to sell it. Passing along good karma, as it were. I don't have any pics here with me, I might be able to post some later.

USA1122 Needs a good home!

A couple of years ago I sent a message to the world 14 list asking if anyone knew of an affordable used penny or such as I was interested in 14s. Eric Arens GAVE me US1122 (all I had to do was get it from San Fran to Missouri). Fast forward a couple of years and I'm anticipating a change in my livin...

Marcus, I'd be honored. I'm a little concerned that some of the really good folks might be critical of some of it since they understand the concepts so much better than me - so my only requests would be for the article to direct people back to this thread for discussion and comment, and that at som...

Actually they're fine. Click on them and view them full size. They look bad because they're raster drawings that have been scaled. They don't scale well without a resample.
