Re: new 14 foot skiff owner

Hi spewk1, Jenny Danks and Hugh Richardson (aka Gumby) had it built by a (12?) skiff guy who was also known as "Jam" - forget his name. It was the last of the Wedge's - Snubby Moor had sailed an identical one in the NZ South Pacific's a couple of years before. Not sure if it was '97 as I can't remem...

Scapa Flow

Bonjour Brice! Looks like you got the boat back there ok. I even managed to understand most of your message, testament to the long lost fact that 4 years of French at High school was not completely wasted. Although my Japanese is only slightly worse than my French, after 2 sailing regattas in Japan....

I still have memories of having to cover the old bugger all the way up the last beat of one the races in San Fran in '97.
And he didn't go down easily!
An inspiration to all 14 sailors who think they're getting too old...

Perth sailing

Skiffboy, See attached shot of Coutts' taken in the last race of the 2002-03 Nationals in Perth - shot taken up the top end of the course (the bricks). This is what you're in for. For those contemplating a possible Worlds in Perth - this is what happens nearly every day in summer. For those contempl...

Archie. I did the '97 worlds at Richmond, and we rented an apartment just up from Richmond YC from a lovely lady named Margi Celucci. She actually rented us her apartment and she moved out. She runs her own agency over there, so she may be of help in trying to find a place. I'm sure Lisa T can help ...

Kate,
What's you address?
I'll send up some of our 14 stickers from Melbourne.
Marcus - a T shirt in child's size would be useful, and maybe mens jocks with "14 footer" on the front...

I nearly cried when I saw what he did to that beautiful Scapa Flow.
Helmy .....stay at your desk!

Thanks for that Grant...
Wouldn't have looked too pretty when the original front wing supports finally broke off, either...

PS Chris. I managed to take another 2kg's of weight out of the boat, mainly due to the removal of the mast gate. The foredeck itself weighed bugger all. I had to add anotehr 2kg's of lead to the boat - that's on top of the 5kg's it's already carrying - not bad for a vintage 98/99 boat. I would stay ...

Chris, let me first say that there's nothing more dangerous than an accountant with a jigsaw in his hand - except perhaps if you're an accountant and you're going to take to your jigsaw to your beautiful ex-worlds winning boat...but after 3 weeks I finally did do it...I don't have any photos, but he...
