Re: 1474

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while. Thanks for the offer, I decided to stick with what I have for now due to current circumstances - finishing uni means I currently dont have loads of spare cash!

Incidentally my current boat came from BBSC!

Summer Crew Available

Hi All, I'm doing an internship over the summer in Bristol (UK). Unfortunately it was too far to bring my boat down from Scotland. Is anyone looking for a crew, or knows anyone looking for a crew on any boat somewhere within an hour of Bristol, or a few hours for events. I can't do POW due to work. ...

Re: Mainsail mast top lock

Is this actually legal -
Rule 12 d
All sails shall be capable of being fully lowered while afloat, without detaching the forestay or requiring that the
boat be capsized.

Wanted: Daggerboard

Hi All,

I'm looking for a daggerboard which will fit a Benedict IV. My budget is a bit limited so a new build isn't really an option so if anyone has an old one lying around that'd be great.

Cheers

Re: Rectangular boom

I'm sure someone will correct me on this but, I guess the flex would be decreased in the vertical plane if you made the boom taller, however, if you then made it thinner the flex would be increased in the horizontal plane, just like taking a rule and trying to flex it in both the vertical and horizo...

Re: 1995 OD14 Rigging & Line Advice

Yeah - you'll need to use the bottom T fitting in Shu's picture. Mine are one loop of rope for either side with an alpine butterfly in the middle at the mast fitting

Re: 1995 OD14 Rigging & Line Advice

Ricky, I've added some extra comments to Steve's Ollie I'm new to the Forum here with a recently acquired OD14 (USA262) out of NJ and currently residing in Austin, TX. I sailed these 'back in the day' and am looking forward to tinkering again with the boat and going fast. Now, on to the topic.... I'...

Re: Penny / OD

Not really much point starting a new topic for this hopefully easy to answer question: On my boat currently the upper shrouds are set in a diamond formation - i.e. run only through the upper spreaders and then to the adjuster - they don't run through the lowers. I know most people have the shrouds r...

Re: Penny / OD

Sounds a little more than essential - it sounds like it could be part of the mast supports

However, there are many bits of metal on mine - post photos and we'll have a look of specific bits that you are unsure about and someone will get back to you

Re: Penny / OD

Hi Welcome to the class, I've only been here a couple of years but it's a brilliant class to get into.

What exactly do you mean by mast struts - do you mean the space frame? or do you mean the mast ram? or something entirely different?

Re: spinnakker design

Yeah the kites do get tangled in the spreaders if you are not careful, I have plastic practice golf balls on the ends of mine so that they aren't sharp and the holes in the golf balls allow the wire through. However, if you are getting a better cut kite then there maybe isn't much point
